When I had to leave behind Agro to explore another area, I was really sad and felt much more alone. A PS3 HD remix could make all the difference. The visual overhaul is stunning, thoroughly enhancing every facet of Wander and Agros excellent adventure. In keeping with the world feeling very barren and devoid of life, there is no music playing most of the time when exploring the overworld, and the only sounds are Agro and Wander's own movements. Shadow of the Colossus features some astonishing tech for the PS2 era, but the hardware simply can't sustain a respectable frame-rate. Shadow of the Colossus is a tremendous journey, and one well worth taking and retaking. When I was with Agro, I at least felt like I had another heartbeat close by in this desolate (but at the same time - beautiful) world. This might sound very weird, but I grew really attached to Agro as the game progressed. You feel utterly and totally alone in this "forbidden" area. I would have assumed a world that was so barren would be a negative for a game, but it's quite the opposite here. My very first reaction upon having control over Wander was. Download 'Shadow of the Colossus' for the PlayStation 2. This was a very different game than that of ICO despite the aesthetics being a little similar. But after I got control of Wander, the comparisons ended. I was immediately intrigued by the game during the intro, and I chuckled to myself how Team ICO games always seem to open with people on horses going through forests. I had always heard it was a "masterpiece" and such high praise, but frankly, I thought it was probably just overhyped and would lead me to being disappointed. Now in 2013, I finally got around to playing Shadow of the Colossus thanks to Playstation Plus! It's the HD version, so I'm not sure if there are any mechanical changes from the PS2 one. I didn't even know about it until a few years after it released, and by that point, I was already well into "next gen" and just forgot about it again. So I missed out on some of the less well-known games back then - Shadow of the Colossus being one of them. As a result, I didn't really play a lot of other games around 2005-2006 except for a few special cases. If I wasn't in class or doing homework, I was obsessed with Final Fantasy XI. Shadow of the Colossus features some astonishing tech for the PS2 era, but the hardware simply cant sustain a respectable frame-rate. When Shadow of the Colossus originally released, I was in college. As years went by, I kept wondering if that team would make a sequel or another game in general, but I just kind of forgot about them. Minor complaints aside (Yorda's AI and being so slow going up those damn ladders), it was a short, fun, and mysterious little game. So I played ICO back when it came out for the PS2, and really enjoyed it for the most part.
